Our Story
Where raw meets romantic
Built for You
Your community is over 700,000 people strong — one of Canada's youngest, most vibrant, and fastest-growing. Over 50% South Asian, with thriving Caribbean, Filipino, and East African communities. Families here celebrate constantly — mehndi nights, baby showers, milestone birthdays, aqiqahs, engagement parties, intimate weddings.
Yet when it came time to book a venue for 50–125 guests, there was nothing. Oversized banquet halls for 200+ with mandatory in-house catering. Or institutional community centres with fluorescent lighting and folding chairs.
The Laurel Room was born from this gap. A space that's intimate enough to feel personal, beautiful enough to photograph, and flexible enough to serve every family's food, music, and traditions.
Learn About Our PackagesRaw Meets Romantic
We take a raw industrial flex space — exposed black ceiling, soaring 18-foot height, concrete bones — and transform it with warm wood floors, alabaster walls, a shimmering fairy light canopy, statement backdrop arches, and five curated design presets.
The contrast between raw industrial and soft romantic is what makes The Laurel Room unlike anything else. It's the kind of space that makes people stop and say ‘where is this?’
What We Believe
Every Celebration Matters
No event is too small or too simple for a beautiful room. From a baby's naming ceremony to a grandmother's 80th birthday.
Cultural Fluency
We serve every community's celebrations without culturally pigeonholing anyone. Your food, your music, your traditions.
BYOC Freedom
Bring your own caterer, serve your own food. Halal, vegetarian, Caribbean, Filipino — whatever your family loves.
Beauty Is Not a Luxury
A stunning, Instagram-worthy room should be accessible at every family's budget.
Khushbu Dhahan
Khushbu brings a rare dual expertise to The Laurel Room. Her career in government program delivery trained her in the operational disciplines that running a venue demands — scheduling, compliance, vendor management, financial tracking, and client service.
Beyond her professional career, Khushbu has deep personal experience planning cultural celebrations — from mehndi nights and bridal showers to engagement parties and family milestones. She understands the cultural nuances and aesthetic preferences of the South Asian, Caribbean, and multicultural families in the community.
With a young family of her own, Khushbu knows firsthand what families want when they celebrate: a room that's beautiful enough to photograph, flexible enough to serve their own food, and affordable enough to book without stress.
